Ingredients:
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup melted unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup mashed overripe banana
- 1 large egg
- 3.5 cups bread flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup mashed banana
- 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
- 4 oz softened cream cheese
- 2 tbsp softened unsalted butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp milk
Instructions:
- Combine warm milk (105-115°F) and sugar in a bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Whisk in the melted butter, mashed banana, and egg until smooth.
- Gradually stir in the bread flour and salt using a wooden spoon or mixer until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead by hand or with a dough hook for 5-7 minutes until the dough is tacky but no longer sticks to fingers and pulls away cleanly from the bowl.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Gently press the air out of the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface.
