Ingredients:
- 2 (6 oz) salmon fillets, skin-on
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- ¼ tsp cracked black pepper
- ¼ cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- ½ tsp garlic powder
Instructions:
- Pat the salmon fillets extremely dry with paper towels to ensure a proper sear.
- Rub the fillets with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, Dijon mustard, soy sauce, lemon juice, and garlic powder until it forms a thick, uniform paste.
- Spoon the glaze generously over the top of each fillet, spreading it to the edges.
- Place in a preheated oven at 425°F (218°C) and bake for 12-14 minutes.
- Turn the broiler to 'High' for the final 2 minutes, watching closely until the glaze bubbles and turns a deep, dark brown.
- Remove from oven and let the fish rest for 3 minutes to allow juices to redistribute.
