Ingredients:
- 3 large overripe bananas, mashed (approx. 300g)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled (115g)
- 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce (60ml)
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed (100g)
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract (5ml)
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (190g)
- 1 tsp baking soda (5g)
- 1/2 tsp salt (3g)
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (2g)
- 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (130g)
- 1 tbsp flour (8g)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your 9x5 loaf pan with butter or line it with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for a quick lift.
- In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth. Whisk in the melted butter, applesauce, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla until the mixture is cohesive.
- Sift the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon directly into the wet mixture. Using a spatula, gently fold the ingredients together until no flour streaks remain.
- Toss the chocolate chips in a tablespoon of flour, then fold them into the batter. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes. The loaf is ready when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
