Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
  2. Melt the butter in a microwave-safe glass bowl in 20-second bursts until liquid.
  3. Immediately whisk granulated sugar into the hot melted butter until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  4. Whisk in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. Sift in the cocoa powder and salt, stirring until the batter is glossy and smooth.
  6. Gently fold in the all-purpose flour using a spatula just until no white streaks remain; do not overmix.
  7. Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips, pour the batter into the prepared pan, and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 30–35 minutes until the edges are set and slightly pulling away from the sides, but the center still has a slight jiggle.
