Ingredients:

  • 6 black tea bags
  • 4 cups water
  • 4 cups cold filtered water
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced

Instructions:

  1. Bring 4 cups of water to a simmer until small bubbles start to rise, but don't let it reach a rolling boil. Note: This prevents the tea from becoming bitter
  2. Remove the pan from the heat and add the 6 tea bags.
  3. Let them steep for exactly 5 minutes until the liquid is a deep, dark amber.
  4. Remove the bags gently. Note: Do not squeeze the bags, as this releases bitter tannins
  5. In a small bowl, combine the honey with 1/2 cup of hot water.
  6. Stir the honey mixture until it is completely smooth and translucent.
  7. Pour the hot tea concentrate into your pitcher.
  8. Stir in the honey syrup and the 2 tbsp of fresh lemon juice.
  9. Pour in 4 cups of cold filtered water and stir well.
  10. Add the lemon slices and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until the pitcher feels ice cold to the touch.
