Ingredients:

  • 4 (6 oz / 170g) salmon fillets
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) butter, melted
  • ½ tsp (3g) kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp (1g) black pepper
  • ½ cup (110g) packed light brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp (45ml) soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp (5g) garlic powder
  • ½ tsp (2g) smoked paprika

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets completely dry with paper towels to ensure the glaze adheres.
  3. Brush melted butter over each fillet and season with kosher salt and black pepper.
  4. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, lemon juice, garlic powder, and smoked paprika until a thick, glossy paste forms.
  5. Generously spread the glaze over the top of each fillet, pressing it in with the back of a spoon.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
  7. Turn the broiler on high for the final 2 minutes, watching closely until the sauce bubbles and turns a deep amber.
  8. Remove from oven when the internal temperature reaches 135°F (57°C) for medium or 145°F (63°C) for well-done.
