Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 10/24/2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Food Revealer (foodrevealer.com) collects when you visit the site, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what choices you have. We have tried to keep it short and specific, so you can see exactly what happens to your data when you read a recipe, leave a rating or send us a message.

This policy applies to this website only. It does not cover information collected offline or through other websites that we link to, such as our Pinterest profile.

1. Consent

By using foodrevealer.com, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. Where the law requires your consent for certain cookies or advertising technologies, we ask for it separately, and you can withdraw it at any time (see section 6).

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to run the site, answer your messages and keep the site secure. It comes from four sources.

Contact form

When you write to us through the contact page, we receive your name, your email address and the text of your message. We use this information only to reply to you. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not use your message for any other purpose.

Recipe ratings and comments

If you rate a recipe or leave a comment, we receive the name you enter and the text you submit. Comments may be displayed publicly together with the name you provided, so please do not include personal details such as your address or phone number in a comment. You can use a nickname instead of your real name.

Server logs

Like most websites, our web server automatically records standard technical information when a page is requested: your IP address, your browser type and the pages requested. We use these logs for security, to detect abuse and to troubleshoot technical problems.

Visit statistics

We run first-party visit statistics on our own server. For each visit we record the page viewed and the referrer (the page or site that sent you to us). Raw visit records are kept for 7 days. After that, only daily totals remain, which contain no information about individual visitors.

3. How We Use Information

  • To reply to messages sent through the contact form.
  • To publish ratings and comments that visitors submit.
  • To keep the site secure, prevent spam and abuse, and fix technical errors.
  • To understand which recipes and categories are read most, so we can improve the site.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the contents of your messages for marketing.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our site uses Cloudflare for content delivery and security. Cloudflare may set technical cookies that help protect the site from malicious traffic and deliver pages reliably. These cookies are not used to build advertising profiles.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. If you block technical cookies, some parts of the site may load more slowly or not work as expected.

5. Third-Party Services and Links

Cloudflare

Requests to our site pass through Cloudflare, which provides content delivery and security filtering. In doing so, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address. Cloudflare's own privacy policy applies to its processing.

Pinterest

We link to our social profile on Pinterest. When you follow that link, you leave our site and Pinterest's own privacy policy applies to anything you do there.

This policy does not apply to other websites that we link to. We recommend reading the privacy policy of any site you visit.

6. Visitors from the EEA and the United Kingdom

If you visit from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your data on these legal bases: your consent (for example, when you submit a comment), our legitimate interests in running and securing the site, and, where relevant, steps needed to answer your request. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time by contacting us, and this will not affect processing that took place before you withdrew it.

If advertising or other non-essential cookies are ever used on the site, they will be set for EEA and UK visitors only after you give consent. Google provides tools for managing personalized advertising: you can review and change your settings at https://adssettings.google.com, and learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

7. Your Data Protection Rights (GDPR)

If the GDPR or the UK GDPR applies to you, you have the following rights:

  • The right to access – You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • The right to rectification – You can ask us to correct information you believe is inaccurate or to complete information that is incomplete.
  • The right to erasure – You can ask us to delete your personal data, under certain conditions.
  • The right to restrict processing – You can ask us to limit how we use your personal data, under certain conditions.
  • The right to object – You can object to our processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
  • The right to data portability – You can ask us to transfer the data we hold to you or to another organization, under certain conditions.
  • The right to lodge a complaint – You can complain to your local data protection authority.

We respond to requests within one month. To exercise any of these rights, use the contact page.

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know what categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
  • Request deletion of the personal information we have collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell personal information.
  • Not be treated differently for exercising any of these rights.

To make a request, contact us through the contact page. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request, and we respond within the time required by law.

9. Data Retention

  • Visit statistics: raw records are kept for 7 days, then only daily totals are retained.
  • Contact messages: kept for as long as needed to answer you and handle any follow-up, then deleted.
  • Ratings and comments: kept while they remain published on the site. You can ask us to remove yours at any time.
  • Server logs: kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting, then deleted.

10. Security

We use Cloudflare security filtering and standard server protections to guard the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to prevent unauthorized access to the data described above.

11. Children's Privacy

Food Revealer is a general-audience cooking site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when our practices or the law change. The "Last Updated" date at the top shows when the current version took effect. We encourage you to review this page from time to time.

13. Contact Us
